Kourabiedes si Melomakarona la Amvrosia (lady chef Evanthia Zisi)
Kourabiedes si melomakarona sunt deserturile tipice de Craciun ale grecilor oriunde ar fi ei in lume. Cum Amvrosia e cel mai autentic restaurant grecesc din Bucuresti, le gasiti in permanenta acolo, chiar si in timpul anului, pregatite de doamna Evanthia Zisi. Typical ingredients of the melomakarono are flour or semolina, honey, orange zest and/or fresh juice, cognac (or similar beverage), cinnamon and olive oil. During rolling they are often filled with ground walnuts. Immediately after baking, they are immersed for a few seconds in cold syrup made of honey and sugar dissolved in water. Finally, they are decorated with ground, as well as bigger pieces of walnut. About kourabiedes, the most common flavoring is vanilla, but other variants include Greek brandy (Metaxa is the best-known brand), mastika, or rose water. In some regions of Greece, each Christmas kourabiedes is topped with a clove. (decembrie 2019)
